Delhi Waives Road Tax and Registration Fee for EVs Priced Under Rs 30 Lakh

In a major push for electric mobility, the Delhi government has announced a waiver on road tax and registration fees for electric vehicles priced under Rs 30 lakh. The exemption is aimed at making EVs more affordable for a wider base of buyers in the capital.

Industry observers expect the move to give a meaningful boost to EV sales in Delhi NCR, one of India largest automobile markets, by significantly reducing the on-road price gap between electric and conventional vehicles.

The policy adds to a string of incentives rolled out by state governments across India this year to accelerate the shift toward cleaner mobility, as automakers continue to expand their electric vehicle lineups.
